Kitchen Makeover in Avon Lake: The Reveal
Kitchen Makeover in Avon LAke: The REveal
With a wall obstructing the path from the formal living room to the kitchen, the overall feel of this home was cramped and segmented. Feeling the friction of the restricted living space, they decided that it was time to make a change. Having remained nearly untouched since 1999 when the home was built, this portion of their first floor was overdue for a much needed makeover. With functional beauty in mind, our team completely redesigned and built this kitchen within its original footprint making this our favorite kitchen remodel so far in 2022. In this remodel we worked with Jen Fix to create final concept, staging and designs.
So what makes this kitchen so great?
From 5’ to 10’: The Grand kitchen Island
By eliminating a portion of the load bearing wall, more space was created to allow for a large eat-in island. This not only made the adjoining rooms more open and inviting, but also effectively reduced friction within the kitchen thus promoting a more functional area for the family.
What We Love About It:
The custom color match, “Sherwin Williams Iron Ore”, offers a pop of contrast to the otherwise clean white lines.
The built-in rubbish drawer creates a specific place for garbage, keeping the room cleaner and more functional.
The Cambria Quartz countertops in “Colton” provide beauty and function all in one.
Luxurious custom cabinetry
By far, this kitchen’s most notable feature is the abundance of custom cabinetry; designed by Odell Construction and built by Kahles’ Kitchens. Extending from floor to ceiling, the custom cabinets are finished with an elegant white poplar crown and base. Skillfully planned and structured, there is a place for everything!
What We Love About It
A designated drawer for spices conveniently placed by the stove.
The “Lazy Susan” in the corner creates functional use of an otherwise awkward space.
Pull outs for garbage and recycling keep smells contained and cans concealed.
A drawer with a built-in silverware tray keeps utensils organized
The pantry features 4 pull out drawers for easy access to all dry goods and snacks
Pots and pans have their own designated area to stay organized.
The disguised broom closet makes great use of shallow cabinetry that wraps around the corner of the kitchen.
A strategically placed beverage refrigerator makes it easy to access drinks after a long day outside without entering the main cooking area.
A built-in microwave cabinet keeps things up and off the counter.
The clean white cabinet doors in “North Hampton Reserve”
Character Walnut Wood floors
The ”Character Walnut“ wood was extended into the living room and matched to the existing wood floors.
What We Love About It
The clear satin finish brings out the true character of the wood.
The custom matched floor vents create a seamless feel throughout the entire home.
The subtleness of the wood creates a clean backdrop, accentuating all of this kitchen’s great features.
Perfectly Placed Lighting
In the kitchen, lighting can make or break the overall vibe. The perfectly placed and unique fixtures here really set the mood while further creating a functional space to prepare meals.
What We Love About It
The under cabinet task lighting provides extra wattage for prepping meals.
The Harrington Lantern Chandelier over the kitchen island brings a conversation piece to the room.
Strategically placed can lights evenly distribute light throughout the room.
The new window over the sink provides additional natural light and extra space for cabinetry.
Other Features worth mentioning:
The walls in Sherwin Williams “Agreeable Gray”
The backsplash: Imola Slash in “White” with Mapei grout in “Warm Gray”
The contrasting hardware: Sutton in “Matte Black” and “Satin Bronze”
The end result?
Chaos turns to calm in this transitional kitchen design that is as elegant as it is functional. Are you in need of a lifestyle upgrade? A re-designed kitchen can provide your family with the tools needed to finally feel organized and functional!
